Life and all the rest:::: tmnut blocks port 25

Finally? I support the blocking, but only partially. I think blocking dynamic ips from using port 25 is reasonable.

Hosts with dynamic IPs usually are home users, and usually with less security consciousness. They are usually targets for bots and spammers and a whole lotta bad things.

Now, if you want to send email directly, get yourself screamyx enterprise account with static ip.

Re the open relay. IMHO, a relay catering for screamyx IPs would be better than operating an open relay.

Now, combine that with the above statement, let port 25 to and from the restricted relay and screamyx IP on, and things should be a bit better.

I read somewhere some insinuate the reasons for blocking are more political. I'd take that with a grain of salt.

Remember, there's no real anonymity in the Internet.

Users need to go an extra mile (gpg, ssh, etc, TOR) to get anonymity. Even that would not work 100%.

Just my 2 sen lah.
