Screencasting can easily be done with pyvnc2swf.

Here's how to do it:

  • we must have some sort of vnc server running. for windows, get real vnc. Linux users can use realvnc or x11vnc
  • run vnc2swf, specify the vnc server address:host, and the file name for this particular screen cast.
  • connect to the same vnc server using your favorite vnc client.
  • click start (on vnc2swf) and start screencasting via your connected vnc client.
  • once done, click stop (on vnc2swf)

pyvnc2swf comes with play and editing capability. To play our screencast, do:

   python play.py movie.swf

I haven't tested editing with edit.py yet so I can't actually show anything.

Here's the screencast on how to use pyvnc2swf.

I hope to start compiling screencasts on any topics I find interesting.

p/s - excuse the amateurish production :P
